c.1918 Gold Bullion & Chantilly Lace Gown
J.W. Robinson & Co
c.1918 Evening dress in gold bullion with a gorgeous nouveau floral design. The gown has a fly front bodice with double straps. The bodice is pleated and wraps at the back. Gored skirt falls from beneath the bodice at the slightly dropped waistline. Over skirt in black chantilly lace falls in gathers from the edge of the bodice and falls lower than the skirt hemline. Snap and hook closures at the back waistline.
Condition: The dress has been reworked over time. I'm thinking it began it's life in the early teens and was altered to 1918-1921. There was certainly once a waist sash or cummerbund worn over the dress.
