c.1912 Ivory Beaded Silk & Lace Evening Gown, Size-4
STUNNING c.1912 evening gown in ivory silk and lace. The gown has a bib front in a delicate floral lace with a silk wrap lower front bodice. The upper bodice is in a heavier cotton lace adorned in beaded net and trimmed in pearls. The beading extends from the bust down the front and ends with silver bead trim. A silver beaded net appliqué also adorns the front. The sleeves have the cotton lace upper with the finer lace as the lower sleeves. The skirt falls slender through the hips with an overlapping tuck down the left front side. Pleats turn into draping around the body of the skirt with a silver beaded appliqué down the front with two long sections of beaded fringe. The back of the gown is just as gorgeous with a panel of the ivory cotton lace that falls from the neckline to the fishtail train. Hook and eye closures down the back.
Condition: The lining is shattering and the beaded netting across the shoulders is badly torn and will probably need to be removed. However, the drops of beadwork from the chest are good. Soiling around the hemline. A couple of tiny dots on the silk but nothing major.
