Year: c.1908
Label: Unlabeled
Color: Ivory
Fabric: Lace
Lining: Silk voile
Size: Bust-34" / Waist-26"
Special Features: This gorgeous gown has a stand collar and a chest yoke in ivory lace. The dress has released pleats at the waist that point upward to the bodice for fullness. Varying shapes of pearls and white beads adorn the upper bodice. Puff sleeves end in a wide sleeve band covered in shirred ivory silk chiffon. The skirt sweeps into a stunning train with a slip covered in rows of voile ruffles. Hook and eye closures down the back. Separate ivory taffeta slip also has hook and eye closures and dust ruffles if ivory silk.
Condition: I'm having a bizarre feeling that this gown was used as a wedding dress in the early 1930s. The slip is not original because it's a rayon, however the dust ruffles are of antique silk and have some shattering. Also, the horsehair wings that create the body in the sleeves aren't of the period I feel. Some of the pearls have aged in color from ivory to tan to brown with some minor loss. Three faint stains on the front bodice and upper skirt.
