From the Pierre Cardin Heritage Archive
This piece is part of the exclusive Pierre Cardin Heritage Archive — garments personally selected by Vintage Martini from Cardin's official archives and offered publicly for the first time. Each piece bears an authenticated hand-stitched PIERRE CARDIN HERITAGE cloth label documenting its origin and place in fashion history.
Striking two-piece evening ensemble featuring a fitted dropped-waist halter bodice crafted in black voided velvet with a shimmering abstract motif. The bodice is gathered through a circular ring at the neckline and opens dramatically at the back, where it is accented by an oversized satin bow. A sculptural pleated taffeta peplum flares from the dropped waist, creating bold architectural volume and movement. Paired with a sleek black satin pencil skirt, the ensemble exemplifies Cardin's talent for combining luxurious textures, graphic silhouettes, and theatrical elegance.

*Cardin's ready-to-wear presentations are considered couture or demi-couture since the garments never went into production for stores and were made custom for clients or the runway models were sold in the boutique sometimes featuring the boutique label.
This is possibly the runway garment from the show. Many of these pieces still bear model names or line-up numbers on the inside.
