Description: From the Pierre Cardin Haute Couture collection of 1977, this extraordinary top blurs the line between garment and sculpture. Cut in a poncho-like silhouette, the design is constructed without traditional armholes, allowing the fabric to drape freely around the body and create dramatic movement with every step. An elasticized band along the upper edge sits gracefully across the shoulders, while two tiers of gathered ruffles cascade around the torso, lending volume and softness to the architectural form. Rendered in a textured charcoal fabric, the piece exemplifies Cardin's ability to combine theatrical couture proportions with effortless wearability. An exceptionally rare runway design, documented in the original 1977 haute couture presentation.
